Hey Guys, I ordered a new carpet set to replace the one that I butchered last week, and I'm thinking there must be a better way of cutting the carpet besides changing blades in a utility knife every two minutes. I was thinking of getting one of these shears Cordless Shears Link , and I'm wondering what any of you have used successfully. Greg

soldering irons work well and will not fray the material. the smell is a little tough to deal with.

I like the idea of a soldering iron, the one I just bought has a knife-tip on it for cutting synthetic line. As for the smell, I was a Bering Sea fisherman in Alaska & Russia when I was a young man, I doubt anything can beat that smell. Greg

cutting synthetics is pretty bad. I can remember it from doing marine canvas. I heated up bolts for my seat bolts. I used old straightedge razors for the rest. recycle, reuse reduce.
