For what it's worth.... you'd be better off and a lot more happier if you make sure the replacement tank you buy is made by SPECTRA. They are a Canadian company and make direct replacement tanks for most classic cars. Otherwise, you'll be buying a Chinese made unit that will leave you wishing you spent a few dollars more for a better, correct tank. And just like all other repop'ed parts made in China..... they are no more than plain crap. BUYER BEWARE!!

It's too bad so many of the US companies sold out to the orient in the name of making money. Guess it just the "need for greed" as far as money goes. I'm glad there are still Canadian companies finding a niche in manufacturing and marketing that still serves the needs and wants of quality products. Yes.... GO CANADA!!!

Spectra used to sell sell them in Canada for $450. Dave in BC lived near the plant, ended up getting one out of the US for under $200. So us guess we are subsidizing sales in the US. Interesting they still make them in Canada, they could make more by having them made in China I am sure, so I have to give them credit for not doing that. Don

I bought that tank and while it fit good, I found out the hard way that the holes for the sending unit screws were off causing me not to be able to properly seal my sending unit. I lost about 30 bucks worth of Saudi Arabia's finest gasoline to the ground. I've been nickle and diming it ever since. |

........I found out the hard way that the holes for the sending unit screws were off causing me not to be able to properly seal my sending unit. The screw holes were more than likely NOT off as you say. Both the sending unit and gasket, while they do have 5 holes around their perimeters, are NOT equally spaced at 72ยบ each. When casually looking at them you would think they are symetrically spaced, but they are not. Many have made the same mistake...... and yes, you will lose gas because the gasket will not seal properly. Your best course is to dry fit the gasket, ensuring the holes line up perfectly with the sending unit and the tank before screwing the parts together.

I always thought that was obvious, probably an OCD thing. |
