A lot of companies that do wheels are less than reliable, so you should go with one that has a good reputation.

Wheel Vintiques is the only place out there that I would buy wheels from. Both Summit and Jegs carry Wheel Vintiques wheels, which gives you an idea about the quality of their work.

There are other places in California (and elsewhere) that do wheels, but they just don't have good reputations - I've seen numbers of complaints about them over the years.

Well, I am not as skeptical as Vaughn.

I purchased my vintage US Indy Aluminum Slots from AKH Vintage Wheels http://akhwheels.com/ and they arrived as described.

When I bought Torque Thrust TTO's for my Camaro I also went with an unkwon to me a place called "Driver Z". I had good luck with them too.

Do your research, check with the Better Business Bureau and you should be good.

That being said I bought a set of custom offset Rallye Wheels from Wheel Vintiques about 15 years ago, good experience dealing with them too.

hi, just saw your post. this is scott the owner at detroit vintage wheels.

We are the only company in the world to be re-cnc maching and powdercoating these old aftermarket wheels as new. Give me a call and we will talk about what I do different from the rest. AKW will not talk to you like I will. Not the friendliest company. They just polish wheels with a drill and polish wheels and paint them with rattle cans. you can get this stuff from a sears store. I use a 300k machine lathe industrial and scan wheels to machine them and powdercoat them. I offer 100% satisfaction money back guarantee. Wheel Viniques is nice but remember they are retro reproductions. My wheels are the real deal restored wheels. thanks for your interest in my company.

I am confused? The OP said slotted mags. You are talking about polishing and then painting with rattle cans? Painting what?

I agree the folks at AKH were a bit "gruff", but the quality of the wheels was excellent.
