So I'm new to this site and I wound up here researching a 63 Impala SS six-cylinder that I found. I found this car on Craigslist for $3500 and it seems to be a driver, but my question is is the 63 six-cylinder model and Impala SS worth it? |

SEVEN ENGINES from the 140 horsepower 230 c.i. 6-cyl. to the 425 horsepower 409 c.i. were available with the SS option: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/chevy/63c/bi lder/... Richard |

Sorry, but trim code 875 = Red vinyl buckets = SS. Turns out there's a ton of cancer, missing factory seats too. :-( |

I would say, sight unseen, that the price isn't too bad if the car was complete (which apparently it is not) and the rust was limited to the floor boards and minor rust on the fenders. What you don't want is to start with an incomplete car where hunting down the right parts is time consuming and expensive. The six is the least of the problems. Some would prefer to keep the six for it's rarity in an SS but a V8 swap would also be a piece of cake. Eric

my mistack guys the impala ss was avable with the 6 cyl. http://www.oldride.com/library/1963_chevrole t_impa... The oldride.com website also says... "The optional small-block offered up to 340 horses." The 340 horsepower 327 was only available in the Corvette. You can't really trust most internet websites. Chevrolet printed info sez the RPO Z03 SS option was available on models 17-1847,67. 1700 series = 6-cyl. Impala 1800 series = 8-cyl. Impala 47= Sport Coupe 67= Convertible Chevrolet printed info Heritage website.
