this is a question that my fellow chev friends from oz could help me with....the 57 sedan i am working on i am using hx discs and calipers on with a holden brake hose, the hose exits the caliper towards the front, yet the mount point for the other end of the hose is behind the top a arm, will this work or has anyone got a better location for the hose...on a hx holden that hose would mount infront of the a arm.reason i am using holden parts is they are cheap, work good and readly avaiable here in nz.

I had front mounted HQ calipers years ago on a 56. Can't remember all the details, but seem to recall getting longer metal brake tubing made to go to the front of the top A arm, and putting a mounting point there for the caliper hose. I want to put HX alloy calipers on my current 57 and, as far as I can see, I'll be able to mount them to the rear of the spindle. IMHO, that's a much better place for them. Just for the record, I have a 56 now that I imported recently. It has discs that look just like HQ-WB ones, except they don't increase the track width. I don't know what they're off - maybe a Camaro or something and maybe they're cheap and easy to get in the US - as Holden stuff is here???? Cheers. Mike.

cool Mike, yes i have used brand new hq discs with a lvvta aproved cailper bracket that mounts to the stock spindle, very much like a castlemane one, then rear mounted hx cailper( i like them better than hq, they look better )today i mounted them and using a stock hose just trying to locate them where they wont touch any thing, also mounted the vk commodore pbr master cylinder on the fire wall and i am rapted with how clean it looks.regards chris

Sorry Chris, I get it now...Rear mounted calipers, but the hose goes forward. I'd be interested to know more about the mounting kits you used. I didn't know there were any available to mount alloy calipers to the rear of the spindle. I was going to make my own. Also like to know more about how the booster fitted. Here's a pic of my left caliper. The way mine are, the hose goes back and up - which would be toward the original chassis clip. The fitting has a locating pin on it, but you could remove that and rotate it to exactly where you wanted it.

Hey Chris. I asked the same questions a couple of months ago regarding pictures. You have to get a login for an online picture posting website, upload your pics to there (preferably downsized a bit), then when you go onto the site, there's a URL for each picture and you copy that into CT as you're writing your post. I got a login for picturetrail.com but there are others. It's a bit of messing about, but if you spend a bit of time, curse and swear, and don't throw your computer out the window, you'll get the hang of it eventually. Picture trail doesn't cost anything for X amount of pictures per year but I don't know if that's about to change. Mike.

hi mike i have pm you, some days there just isnt enough hours in the day to waste it on a computer trying to reinvent the wheel it would be really great for the powers that be could add a simple way of uploading pitcures without having to use another web site.

I cheated with mine - used a complete HZ front clip , joined to the Chev chassis under the firewall.
